This is an extract from the series I made documenting the people that live, and have lived in the Manila North Cemetery for up to decades. The site of thousands of graves including many notable filipino celebrities spanning 54 hectares, the cemetery also contains 2000 living residents. With formal employment scarce and people living in poverty not uncommon, these residents live a lifestyle close to the average filipino's. Security guards employed by the local government monitor and check every person entering or exiting the cemetery, patrolling it to enforce the safety of the tombs - as well as the residents, creating a gated community of sorts.
